Who is ABATherapy For?
ABA therapy is designed for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis who benefit from individualized support in developing communication, social, behavioral, and daily living skills. At Happy Valley Pediatrics, we specialize in children 8 years and younger, providing early intervention during the years when learning and development are most impactful. Families often reach out because their child:
Has recently been diagnosed with autism
Has difficulty communicating wants and needs
Struggles with transitions or changes in routine
Has difficulty following directions
Needs support with social skills or playing with peers
Has frequent tantrums or behaviors that interfere with learning or daily routines
Is delayed in daily living skills, such as toileting, dressing, or independence
Has difficulty participating in preschool or classroom routines
Would benefit from building attention, engagement, and early learning skills
Needs individualized support to reach developmental goals
Getting Started with ABA
Most insurance plans require an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis and a recommendation that ABA therapy is medically necessary before services can begin. Once these requirements are met, our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will complete a comprehensive ABA assessment to identify your child's strengths, areas of need, and individualized goals. Together, we'll create a treatment plan that supports meaningful progress for your child and family.

An Individualized Treatment Plan
Ongoing Therapy That Fits Your Family
Your journey begins with a comprehensive evaluation completed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). We'll get to know your child's strengths, challenges, interests, and developmental needs while identifying meaningful goals that will make the biggest difference in everyday life.
Using the evaluation results, your BCBA creates a personalized treatment plan tailored to your child's unique needs. Goals may focus on communication, social skills, emotional regulation, daily living skills, independence, play, and school readiness. We'll also review the plan with your family and answer any questions before services begin.
Once insurance authorization is approved, therapy begins! Sessions are individualized, engaging, and rooted in play. Your BCBA continuously monitors progress, updates goals as your child grows, and partners with your family to help skills carry over into everyday life.

Common Questions
Do I need an autism diagnosis to begin ABA therapy?
Yes. Most insurance plans require an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis and documentation supporting the medical necessity of ABA therapy before services can begin. If your child has recently been diagnosed, we're happy to guide you through the next steps.
Where are ABA services provided?
We currently provide in-home ABA therapy (beginning 2027), allowing children to learn and practice new skills in their natural environment. Additional service options may become available as Happy Valley continues to grow.
How do I know if my child needs ABA therapy?
ABA therapy may be beneficial for children with autism who need support developing communication, social, play, daily living, or emotional regulation skills. An evaluation with a BCBA helps determine your child's strengths, needs, and individualized goals.
What ages do you serve?
Happy Valley Pediatrics specializes in early intervention, serving children 8 years and younger. Our programs focus on building foundational skills during the years when children learn and develop most rapidly.
What happens during an ABA evaluation?
Your child's evaluation is completed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Through play, observation, caregiver interviews, and standardized assessments, we'll learn about your child's strengths, challenges, and developmental needs before creating an individualized treatment plan.
How often does my child receive ABA therapy?
The recommended schedule is determined during your child's evaluation and depends on their individual strengths, goals, and support needs. Your BCBA will recommend the number of therapy hours that best meets your child's needs.
Do you accept insurance?
We work with insurance plans that cover ABA therapy. Coverage, authorization requirements, and benefits vary by plan. Our team will help verify your benefits and guide you through the authorization process before services begin.
